I Will Buy the Flower Shop

Paisley pants from my mother, an old horseback riding shirt from my mother, DIY wooden elephant necklace

Looking at the photos now I just realized that my sleeves got unrolled somehow. Probably from trying to stand on the fence (which didn't work out). Anyways, it looked a lot cuter with the sleeves rolled up, so use your imagination, please. And I didn't wear shoes with this outfit. I go barefoot a lot during the summer.
But here I am wearing pants for once! ...and they kind of suck. At the very least, they were too hot for this weather, even though they're thin. Apparently it's 97 degrees out today. But the upside is that they have massive pockets and they're high waisted. So I'm definitely going to give both the paisley pants and the riding shirt another chance sometime - I've never worn either before.
Also, I'd like to make a request for summer playlist suggestions! What are you listening to? I need some new sounds!

You could be leaving, or we could stay

H&M top, H&M skirt, Kimchi Blue metallic oxfords, ring from Charlotte Russe

My unmade bed... it looks a lot better now than in these shots, I've got different sheets on and a blanket over the comforter. I may or may not have just thrown the comforter over the whole mess in these photos! I'm still loving the gray walls though.
I really like this big ring... in general, I tend to wear more dainty jewelry, and very little of it, but I have kind of been wanting to wear tons of rings lately. I can wear this ring on any of my fingers... I've never worn a ring on my thumb before! Usually I just wear one ring on my middle finger. Trying out something new!

Elections

DIY t-shirt, H&M shorts, studded flats from Urban Outfitters

My friend made this shirt for me to wear as part of the school elections (she won!). This outfit was just okay, but I only had 45 seconds to put it on. I'd gotten dressed in a really cool outfit and was heading out the door when I realized I was supposed to wear this t-shirt! My carpool was waiting in the driveway, too! So of course I just reached for my favorite shorts and threw on some flats.

Updates

I've updated the blog design a bit today! What do you think? Any constructive criticism is welcome!

Recently I've begun sewing with my friends, and have made two very cute skirts so far. The big scarf I've been knitting while watching LOST is coming along nicely as well, probably due to the fact that I'm already on season 3 season 4. Considering the literally 100 degree temperatures here right now, you probably won't see that for awhile, but the skirts will probably be making appearances here very soon!

Additionally, expect more creative outfits rather than the boring black skirt + t-shirt combo I wore for much of last year. I'm trying to challenge myself a bit more as far as what I wear, so hopefully there will be some interesting things to see. (I'm even going to try to rock those paisley pants in my closet!) That'll be coming up as soon as I've posted all my old school outfits. Stay tuned!

Trouser socks

Grey v-neck from Target, Silence + Noise skirt, my dad's socks, Kimchi Blue metallic oxfords, my dad's university class ring as a necklace

I wore this on one of the last days of school, decided to try out this whole socks trend, and I really liked it. It was a little bit hot- but we've been having temperatures 10 degrees above normal here for the past two months, so I should probably adjust my dressing. It was really comfy inside while I was taking my exam though! I still have these socks in my closet...I'm not sure if I'll ever give them back!

Four Horsemen

I often take inspiration from men's fashion - and there are definitely a few pieces in my closet from the men's section. Why is it that they always have the best clothes?
Here are a couple items from the Four Horsemen shop that I wouldn't mind adding to my wardrobe. (The above image is from their gallery as well.) Of course, they don't carry the shoes in a size small enough to fit my girl feet (a men's 6 is a little big on me) but I can always wish.

Oceanfront

Film; most shots by Avery, last two by me

Here's some shots from my trip to the beach with Avery! The general summary: It was fanastic. We did a 500 piece puzzle, then attempted a 1000 piece that we almost finished but didn't quite have enough time to do and haunted my dreams for three nights. We made guacamole five times during the week we were there, and my famous pasta salad. We walked Avery's dog Sugar a lot, and went on a little shopping trip in town. We took an emergency trip to the little grocery store, only to find they had no tampons ("what kind of grocery store is this?!"). I read The Last Tycoon. We watched a couple movies, a few hours of crime TV, and a little Top Model. Oh yeah, and we enjoyed being out by the ocean practically all the time.

The Easiest Cake Recipe Ever

Ruffle top - from Macy's or Dillards or somewhere like that, American Apparel skirt, vintage heels

I think I'm going to swap out the laces of these shoes with a nice ribbon, once I can find a good one. They're kind of ugly and always come untied, but a ribbon would look perfect! Anyways, let me share with you the easiest cake recipe ever- give it a try and let me know how it turned out for you!

Ingredients:
1 box cake mix
10 oz soda
That's all! Seriously!

For a chocolate cake mix, use a dark soda like Pepsi or Coke,
for a yellow or strawberry mix, use a light soda like Sprite or Sierra Mist.
It's really that simple! Just make sure to use exactly 10 ounces of soda. (If you use too much, it will fall apart...I learned that one the hard way.)
It's always delicious!

I Like Monochrome

SOOTS t-shirt, H&M skirt

However plain this outfit may be, I love it. This is a t-shirt that is designed and hand silk screened by a couple of my friends from an organization I'm a part of, it's the new t-shirt from a concert we just put on in April. It's my favorite design yet (although the old ones are good too). Some of the staff tie dyed their shirts, but I decided that I like the crisp black and white a lot better. It enables me to overwear this shirt the way that I do!

Do you go hiking in those?

H&M top, American Apparel skirt, boots stolen from my mother

Another outfit from the school year - I think it was the only time I wore heels this year. I don't have a lot of heels that I like, especially in comparison to my flats, so I don't end up wearing them very often. I love wearing heels though. I think next year I'll wear a lot more.
I bought these boots for my mother a few Mother's Days ago, and now I've finally gotten the chance to borrow them! They were really comfortable, actually. Someone at school asked me if I actually go hiking in them... hahaha!

Les champs

Film; Myself, Sarah, and Avery

The button downs are Avery's, I think they're old Ralph Lauren men's or something. The pearls are also Avery's, and the crown ring as a necklace I'm wearing is courtesy of Jewelry Art Designs.

Dotted black & white

H&M polka dotted bow tie blouse, H&M skirt, black heels

Here's an outfit from a while back. I wore this when I was inducted into ITS (International Thespian Society). I'm pretty sure I wore some rings, as well, but I don't like to wear necklaces with this top, because of the bow. I really love this shirt though, I wear it quite a lot! Polka dots AND black and white?! It doesn't get much better!
