Final

(Natasha Poly by Willy Vanderperre for AnOther Magazine in 2008)
Did I say two parts? I meant three. I couldn't find a place where this fit the way I wanted it to with either of the other parts, so it is getting a separate post. It's not necessarily my favorite (there are so many to choose from!), but it has so much great stuff. The shape and fabric of that skirt, the grass, the silhouette, the shoulders, the hair.
I recommend you see part 1 and part 2 if you haven't already.

Partie Deux

(Natasha Poly by Willy Vanderperre for AnOther Magazine in 2008)
The perfect balance of masculine and feminine. The mixture of fabrics and textures. Again, the wind and the boots. (Those lace up rain boots in the second-to-last shot? I'm dying over them.) Lots of layers, but still simplicity.
See part 1 here- it's totally worth your time.

Morning Beauty

(Natasha Poly by Willy Vanderperre for AnOther Magazine in 2008)
The rest of this editorial by Willy Vanderperre that I found thanks to Malika is so much great I will be sharing it in two posts. I think I'll have to find a way to hang these in my room (right now all I have up on the walls are the La Garconne and Proenza Schouler PreFall collections and a map. I'm digging the gray space, but this editorial is just so good.)
Let's go over everything I'm feeling in these: warm knits, wind, wintertime beach adventures, black and white, boots of varying heights, tough yet feminine looks... I don't know this whole thing is just fantastic.
(Edit: I got complaints that the images weren't working; I think I fixed it, let me know if there are any more problems.)

Test Magazine

(Test Magazine via Studded Hearts)
It is insanely cold here. Absolutely, positively, ridiculously cold. These shots look like the type of weather that we're supposed to be having here right now. The girls are gorgeous, no? Does anyone know their names? I love the first and third shots most.
Here's hoping that snow does NOT cancel exams tomorrow - it's the last day and I just want to get them over with!

Wild

Alyona Osmanova photographed by Derek Henderson for Russh Magazine

Looking forward to spring flowers and enjoying lots of white space. I want to share some of her Q&A from the article as well:

Where do you call home?
The world.

Describe your personal style...
Personal style? It’s all about the mood and the weather!

What can’t you live without?
Sunshine.

How do you keep trim and fit?

It’s all about being happy and active.

So what next, what are you excited about that is coming up?

I’m really excited about tomorrow, the same way I was excited about today and yesterday. Why? Because life is so wonderful, and I don’t want to miss any of its happy moments!

Film Noir

GQ Style Italy F/W 10 photographed by Matthew Brookes
I just want to admire these.
Let's go back to the times of the 1940's and 50's when guys dressed like this all the time, okay?

Sasha

Vogue Paris December 2010
I know everyone's seen these shots of Sasha Pivovarova a trillion times, but I really just want a dimanche a la campagne (sunday in the country) like this right now. I think it's gotten a bit too cold for that now though.

Autumn Sun

UK Vogue October 2010
Remembering this popular spread. Sorry if you've already seen it a ton, but the more I look at it, the more I love it! Right now my life is driven by hopes that when this is done or that is done, then I will be able to go on crazy adventures with my friends. I'm so ready to relax and have some fun.

Drowsy Days

Harper's Bazaar UK October 2010 via Studded Hearts
Today I'm looking forward to big comfy, chunky sweaters and knits like these, hoping it will cool down and rain here finally. I'm in love with this editorial. I'd like to just have a lazy Saturday and watch some LOST, but I'm spending the first part of my day with college applications and cleaning. I'm ready to fast forward to second semester right about now, when everything is slowing down and I'm already accepted to school.

Birthday

Marie Claire, October 2010 via Studded Hearts

Today's my birthday! I'm getting older. I had a fantastic birthday party with my best friends last night- pictures from that to come later (they're not on my camera). Anyways, here's a spread from Marie Claire US that I really like. Especially the first one. Everything looks soft and comfy, with such basic colors, and that's really what I'm feeling right now. I think I might try the double braids shown in the first shot, too. Hope your weekend was wonderful, and remember "your virtues are priceless treasures" (my fortune tonight at PF Changs).

Harper's Bazaar: August 1949

Scans from Harper's Bazaar August 1949 by me

In honor of going back to school on Wednesday, I'm sharing some scholarly fashion advice from 1949. This is definitely what I'd like to wear all fall long! Think tweed, wool, pleats and plaid - in neutral shades of gray and beige. Be sure to take note of the oh so chic "small, smooth hair-dos" in the first two images.

Harper's Bazaar

Scans from various months of Harper's Bazaar 1949 by me

I'd like to introduce a little project I'll be sharing every week for a little while... (which I could never come up with a catchy name for). Last year for my history class, I had to do a lot of research in old Harper's Bazaar archives. I've got quite a bit of scans, and they have been very inspirational for me, so I thought I'd share them with you all. In general, I'll be sharing a spread from a specific issue, but to start out I thought I'd just share some miscellaneous shots to give you a taste. I apologize in advance that the quality isn't always great.
It's amazing how relevant magazines from the forties and fifties can still be: animal prints, simple dresses and chic haircuts, matching skirt and jacket combos (which looks a lot like one I snagged thrifting last week), and lovely lips and full skirts that are similar to the ones being seen all over the fall runway. I can't believe they only cost sixty cents!
