Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo
Tiny little fish.
Shes a little fish from the deep blue sea,
Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo!
She's a little girl
Shes a little girl with a round tummy.

Cutest movie EVER.
Things I now want:
1. One of Ponyo's sisters! :D
2. A boat like the big version of Sosuke's
3. A pump-powered flashlight (in case of a tsunami, which would never happen here but whatever. We get hurricanes.)
4. A downloadable version of the Ponyo song and the Remix

This was the cutest movie I have ever seen! Everyone was just going "awwww" the whole time! I adore all of his movies, as I said before.
I actually really loved that this movie talked about JUNK in the OCEAN. People need to SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT! Otherwise Ponyo's sisters and her crazy dad and her awesomagical mom will DIE along with all the other creatures in the sea. I really liked that this movie had that in it. Plus, Ponyo seriously rocked those giant bloomers. No one else could possibly do that.

Manifesto

Thursday, August 20, 2009

"I don't see the point in living if I can't be beautiful."

I must confess: I'm a big fan of his anime movies!
I was talking to my friend the other day about Totoro because she had seen an umbrella with his head on it! (Which I would kill for, by the way.) She said it had eyes and little ears sticking out the top. But Google didn't find any :(
I have seen all but 1 of his movies, I believe. (The one I haven't yet seen is The Castle of Cagliostro, is it good?) But I haven't seen any of his series. And I just recently found out he's made Shorts, all of which I need to see soon.

Anyways, I wanted to share his magic with you because - honest to God - I can trace back where I am now and where I want to go in my life to one moment. And that is when I saw the movie Kiki's Delivery Service.

I swear, this movie changed my life. Not really because of a super-inspiring plot or anything like that, but - I don't know exaclty how to explain, but it was a big chain of events following from that moment which have made me who I am today.

His other movies are just amazing as well. He is just so fantastic. I'll admit, I saw Howl's Moving Castle before I read the book - but I read the sequel too!

I shall rank my favorites, and you shall watch them all:
1. My Neighbor Totoro
2. Kiki's Delivery Service
3. Howl's Moving Castle
4. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
5. Spirited Away
6. Laputa: Castle in the Sky
7. Princess Mononoke
8. Porco Rosso
(Ponyo is unranked as I have not been to see it yet! I've been too busy, but hopefully I'll go this weekend.)

The only one I saw in the theater was Howl's Moving Castle, the others are too old. I could watch them all over and over again ~ also, it's very hard for me to decide whether Proco Rosso or Princess Mononoke should be last, they're very close for me, and they are the ones which I remember least of :(

I really just want a Totoro. I think it would just be the best thing ever to find a Totoro and be able to sit on its belly and play with it and be best friends.

P.S. If you know which of the movies the title of this post if from, and I'll love you forever.

My life is over

I'm so serious. I have so much homework - and school has barely started. Plus I don't even get home until 6 or 7, then I have to shower and eat, so I can't even start it until 7 or 8!
Anyways, I don't have a picture of my 2nd day outfit D: but I shall recreate it when I have time and post the picture, because it's a REALLY cute outfit, if I do say so myself.
And I've got one from today, but I haven't uploaded it yet.

I have to take pics in the morning before I leave for school, because I go straight to practice after school and get all icky so I can't take them after. :( But I'm going to do my best to get pics of everything, and post as much as possible here.

Also, construction on the layout should hopefully be happening in a week or two, when I get the chance.

Much love and apologies for the inevitable lack of posts in the future

Day 1

Forever 21 Top (~$18), brand-new Delia*s jeans, Gladiators from DSW, forgot to wear a necklace and you can't see the earrings (they were cute though), and french mani-pedi :)

The first day wasn't so bad, but then again
it wasn't really a school day.
There were two meetings,
and I was supposed to meet my teachers
(although I didn't get to meet all of them)
I went in late, and left early.
I was there for about 2 hours.

Tomorrow is the real first day.
I'm not sure how it'll go.
A lot of my friends don't have any classes with me this year.

The End of an Era

(This was from the first week of summer)

That's right... summer is coming to an end...
and school is starting again tomorrow.
I shall try my very very best to post a lot more outfit pics now,
considering my summer outfits have not really been anything
(shorts + t-shirt + gladiators practically every day)

Perhaps I'll even do a pic of every school day outfit
180 of them, for the 180 days of school.
I think I'll try to at least!
Although with my work load this year, I'll probably have to post a few at once
Not one a day.

Anyways, I'm off to enjoy my last 4 or 5 hours of summer
And by enjoy, I mean eat dinner and clean my room :(

Oh well, at least next summer is only 290 days away...

Sharing is Caring

My favorites are the last two. I'm really quite predictable, don't you think?

Kiwi!

It's so sad... :( But the message is good - I think.
QUOTE:
Kiwi! is an animation about a Kiwi - a type of bird that cannot fly, who spends its whole life working towards achieving his dream. The kiwi strived to create the illusion that it was flying over a forest as it soared down through the sky from the top of a cliff. Thus, the kiwi spent what must have been its whole life nailing trees to the side of a cliff. All this, to fulfil its one dream of flying, even though it was technically unable to. There are several powerful messages behind Kiwi, but mainly, it makes you think: no matter how absurd and seemingly out of reach your dreams are, what's stopping you from achieving them?

...I think you can take the wrong message away from Kiwi. Some might see it as me telling you that your dreams are worth dying for (if he did die). I don't necessarily believe that, but I think I am showing a character who is like that. Some people can be obsessive over something that only they can understand. I suppose that's why I ended it the way I did. I think part of the sadness, comes from people asking 'Why would he do such a thing? What is driving him to do all of this?'

Envious

No explanation necessary.

This one is just so elegant... I love lace.

I just want this to get hugs. :) I'd only wear it once :p

I don't know why these drawings and french words are so popular... I just got the "dis fromage" one, and there's an equally cute one that says "bonjour" in the balloon, I posted it awhile ago.

It's just so cute :)

Did I mention I love you?

The last one is obviously my favorite. <3 (Follow this link to see more photos from this shoot.)

Today's Purchases

PacSun, PacSun, Delia*s, Forever21

I got a bunch more cute things at F21, but I couldn't find the pics on the website :(
One of the things I got includes my 1st day of school top! :) My school is a freak, so the 1st day - which is this Monday!! Aaah!! - isn't really a day. You just go for like 1 hour, get your books and "meet" your teachers (most of whom you already know) and then go to a meeting. So the 2nd day is like the 1st day. Therefore, you need TWO first day outfits!! It's quite the dilema. So I have decided upon a crappier outfit for Monday (a really cute top from F21, jeans, & some flats), and I'm still thinking about what to wear Tuesday.

P.S. Yeah, I'm totally broke now. :P

Inspiration: Falltime

Did you ever notice how all of the other seasons can have "time" added to them except for fall? Summertime, springtime, wintertime...
But I suppose having 2 names makes up for it - autumn and fall.
Is it odd that I think about things like that?

Carbon Monoxide

So I just had a carbon monoxide scare! :O
And I don't want anyone to die of carbon monoxide poisoning, so here's some facts:
  • Carbon Monoxide (or CO) is ODORLESS and COLORLESS, and it can KILL you before you know it's there
  • Lower levels of exposure to CO causes mild effects such as headaches, dizziness, disorientation, nausea and fatigue (which are often mistaken for the flu)
  • About 170 people in the United States die every year from CO produced by non-automotive consumer products. (like malfunctioning fuel-burning appliances such as furnaces, ranges, water heaters and room heaters; engine-powered equipment such as portable generators; fireplaces; and charcoal that is burned in enclosed areas)
  • 47/94 deaths caused by generator-related CO poisoning occurred during power outages

Tips on Staying Safe
  • Keep gas appliances properly adjusted.
  • Consider purchasing a vented space heater when replacing an unvented one.
  • Use proper fuel in kerosene space heaters.
  • Install and use an exhaust fan vented to outdoors over gas stoves.
  • Open flues when fireplaces are in use.
  • Choose properly sized wood stoves that are certified to meet EPA emission standards. Make certain that doors on all wood stoves fit tightly.
  • Have a trained professional inspect, clean, and tune-up central heating system (furnaces, flues, and chimneys) annually. Repair any leaks promptly.
  • Do not idle the car inside garage.
  • Never use a generator inside homes, garages, crawlspaces, sheds, or similar areas. Deadly levels of carbon monoxide can quickly build up in these areas and can linger for hours, even after the generator has shut off.
  • And of course, GET A CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM. It's like a fire alarm, except that it will alert you to carbon monoxide - if it goes off, get out! Then call 911 (or if you're in another country, whatever your emergency number is). That's what the instructions on my CO alarm say, at least.

My Hero

This is one of my cats,
Geronimo
He is my hero.

He does what he wants, when he wants, and he doesn't give a crap what you think about it.
He always finds a way to make things fun and interesting,
even though he's eating the same exact things every day,
(excluding the bits of chips and cereal he sometimes insists on getting when I'm eating)
and never allowed to leave the house
(because it's far too dangerous out there, what with the "rabid racoon" alerts and the cars... my neighbor's cat was killed by a fox just a little while ago!)

This photo was taken by my mom, she was trying to take a picture of something in the "light box" which apparently takes better photos than things outside of the box.
Anywho, Geronimo decided it was his box.
(Cats are endlessly entertained by boxes)
And there you have it! :P

Isn't he an absolute cutie?

Marauding Plunderers

So I don't know if anyone else follows Big Brother, but I've been watching this season. In summary, they stick a bunch of people in a house with no outside communication and 24-hour surveillence videos (thus the name, as in "Big Brother is Watching You", 1984-style) and they compete against each other to win power and once a week, one of them is evicted. The winner gets 1/2 a million dollars or something.
But anyways, I'm totally in love with this makeup, for whatever reason. It's like she's a bandit. And I'm SO going to do this sometime, probably for Halloween or something. :) Her name's Lydia, she's one of my favorites this season...

Monthlies anyone?

I'm talking about MAGAZINES. Usually they come out once a month, but sometimes more often than that.
I want to know what magazines you look to for inspiration, so I can check them out. :)
Thought I'd ask since I'm looking at an online one right now...
