Ringing

(via Elenita, Streetpeeper, Little Plastic Horses, Late Afternoon)
A few New Year's-y images before I start getting ready. I saw The Tourist yesterday and although the movie was just okay, the dresses were fantastic. Unfortunately, I don't think we're getting too dressed up tonight - but I'll probably over-dress just for fun as I like to do. And I do intend to at the very least have fancy hair. (I haven't used the new curling iron Santa gave me yet.)
Hope you guys enjoyed the little trip to the past in the last post as much as I did! Again, Happy New Year!

December

Looking back through my outfit archives from this year... A lot has changed, and a lot is still the same. All in all I'd say 2010 was a pretty okay year.
I'm more excited for 2011 than any other year - I am almost one hundred percent certain it is going to be the best! Happy New Year!

Layers and Blazers

Gabriella & Vanja Maria photographed by Eirik Slyngstad for The Streethearts
"Marlene Dietrich never shied away from a trouser suit, nor a blazer. The captivating Vanja likewise enjoys a well-tailored jacket. Here she references the British country ‘side by side’ with a 1950’s biker look. Her classic blazer becomes more interesting when she adds the twist of cardigans on top of the classic garment instead of on the inside, as most commonly worn. Enhancing her petit waist with a braided belt adds the attentiveness needed for the look." - Kristina Ketola on the middle look
I promise new outfit posts are coming soon. I went shopping at the new outlet mall yesterday, and found a bundle of lovely new things (including more pants! Not just pants, but jeans). Hopefully you'll see something tomorrow; if not, the day after. I'm trying!

Ribbons and Autumn Leaves

(H&M shorts, vintage belt, my mother's old riding button down, Forever 21 coat, ribbon from a box of french caramels, inherited necklace)
An outfit post! How exciting! It's a little old, but I'm still obsessed with this necklace and the matching earrings that I got from my mother. They're gold, which isn't usually my thing, but they're absolutely fantastic. I love them.
I tied a knot in this ribbon to make it a bit more interesting... I like it at least.

Currently snowed in at home; I don't know if I've ever seen this much snow. It's good for snowballs, but not too good for sledding, which I prefer, so I've mostly been staying inside and watching Misfits online. It's very addicting.

Brick

(Christian Pitschl animated by me, arvidabystrom, Lina Scheynius, Abbytriesagain)
I was going to make a post about how winter and snow make me really love brick, but then I realized I always love brick. It just always looks good. And it's a great background for outfit pictures.
They're predicting snow tomorrow for Christmas, by the way - how exciting! For now, I'm off to make tamales with my dad like we do every year. Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

Tree Stumps

(Thrifted men's rain boots, old jeans from Delia's, Avery's shirt that I believe is from the J.Crewcuts boy's section)
Avery and I watched the lunar eclipse together the other night. It was super cool. In the morning, we took pictures that turned out surprisingly well for our lack of sleep. We also worked on some cute videos, but as of right now I'm having technical difficulties with them.
I proceeded to wear this outfit to a late lunch. (Important note: I have pants! Look!)
Happy Festivus to all of you, and happy birthday to Kate!

Flawless

How does one go about getting such absolutely flawless skin? (Of course it's surely photoshopped, but still.)

Final

(Natasha Poly by Willy Vanderperre for AnOther Magazine in 2008)
Did I say two parts? I meant three. I couldn't find a place where this fit the way I wanted it to with either of the other parts, so it is getting a separate post. It's not necessarily my favorite (there are so many to choose from!), but it has so much great stuff. The shape and fabric of that skirt, the grass, the silhouette, the shoulders, the hair.
I recommend you see part 1 and part 2 if you haven't already.

Partie Deux

(Natasha Poly by Willy Vanderperre for AnOther Magazine in 2008)
The perfect balance of masculine and feminine. The mixture of fabrics and textures. Again, the wind and the boots. (Those lace up rain boots in the second-to-last shot? I'm dying over them.) Lots of layers, but still simplicity.
See part 1 here- it's totally worth your time.

Morning Beauty

(Natasha Poly by Willy Vanderperre for AnOther Magazine in 2008)
The rest of this editorial by Willy Vanderperre that I found thanks to Malika is so much great I will be sharing it in two posts. I think I'll have to find a way to hang these in my room (right now all I have up on the walls are the La Garconne and Proenza Schouler PreFall collections and a map. I'm digging the gray space, but this editorial is just so good.)
Let's go over everything I'm feeling in these: warm knits, wind, wintertime beach adventures, black and white, boots of varying heights, tough yet feminine looks... I don't know this whole thing is just fantastic.
(Edit: I got complaints that the images weren't working; I think I fixed it, let me know if there are any more problems.)

Anyone know where this is from? I have a feeling the rest of the editorial is just as fabulous and I'd love to check it out.

Save Khaki

(Save Khaki)
I'm done with school for this semester! AND I've been accepted to college! Even though yesterday's snow day was a setback, this week has been great. Today, I did well on my last two exams and went over to Avery's, where I went through some outgrown clothes and took a few for myself. I've already taken a nap today, too. Now for microwave smores and a Jean-Luc Godard film on instant netflix.
