Formal Attire

I need an excuse to buy one of these Modcloth dresses! Like I said before, I'm dying for a good formal party. What I'd give to be wearing one of the top two dresses...! Which are your favorites?

Etudie

(Nonpareils top, Portland Nightlife skirt, North Highlands cardigan, Run Burgundy heels, all from Modcloth)
This is one of my favorite outfit creations to date. I feel like it's something to wear to study at the library - with a cute boy. (That's why I threw in some books, too.) Of course, you and said boy will be going out for coffee after. This is currently my motivation to finish writing the essays I mentioned before - due Monday, ahh!
In conclusion, add all of these things to my shopping list: dark red cardigan, perfect crisp white ruffled button up, this skirt, high heeled oxfords

Flu shot

Here's a couple of outfits I created today whilst writing, or at least trying to write, college application essays before going to get a flu shot. (The stuff is all from Modcloth by the way.) I really, really want the first one right about now. I could really use a sweater this color. ...whoa, deja vu! I feel like this time last year I blogged about wanting a green sweater like that. And I still haven't gotten one! How unfortunate. ...Anyway, the second one is a bit more colorful and it's not my usual taste but I like it quite a lot.
An update on the broken camera: still broken. I got in a new piece yesterday but it turns out that wasn't the problem because it still isn't working. Argh! So frustrating!

Back to School (Already?)

I always get in the mood to make these kinds of things at this time of year. I go back to school in just two days! I can't believe summer flew by so quickly. I still have a little bit more shopping I'd like to do (mainly for shoes and underwear) but I doubt it'll get done before school starts. I also need a new pair of sheer black tights because unfortunately, I got a huge hole in mine.
That Herschel Supply Co. bag is the one I ordered last week; it's scheduled to arrive on the first day of school, and I'm really excited. They didn't have gray, but I decided mauve was just as good. I could use a little color, because other than that I'm feeling lots of black and white, as usual. I'm still completely in love with the Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2010 collection; it may just be my favorite of all time. That'll probably rub off a little bit on me this season. Also, on a related note, I'm still totally on board with the socks and shoes trend.
Of course, all of this will have to wait until it actually cools down to some sort of reasonable temperature. I remember on the first day of school last year, I wore a superthin spaghetti strap top with my shortest skirt and gladiators, and I was still burning! It doesn't really cool off around here until late September. But we do fluctuate a lot from day to day, so hopefully there'll be some cool days mixed in.
For now, I've got to go finish reading Life of Pi and do my summer assignment for French class, which, in the spirit of summer, I've been putting off until the last week.

Tights Tuesday

Maybe I'll make Tights Tuesday a thing during the school year. (Although, historically, it's always been Tall Socks Tuesday at my school, I doubt anyone will be continuing the tradition this year. You can probably expect me to attempt it once or twice though.)
Here's some tights I found browsing the Urban Outfitters website that I think are pretty sweet. The stars and stripes are thrown in just for fun - I think they're cute, but I'd probably never wear them if I had them. Where were they on the 4th of July?!
I'm looking forward to pulling my tights out again when it cools down. "Today's high is 91, right now it's 93" says the weatherman! Huh?

Rain Cape

I came across this lovely rain cape by POSTALCO last week, and I can't stop thinking about it! It folds into one of its own pockets for easy transport, and comes in dark green and dark blue (the blue is what I'd like, of course). And what the little description says is so true: "if you have rainwear that you like, rain might be more enjoyable." But alas, this baby is 33,600 yen - also known as 379 US dollars, so for now I'll have to be content with pictures and daydreams.

Delusional

I put together a couple of outfits today. I sort of imagine a housewife wearing this one... although I don't know what you could get done around the house with all this jewelry in the way. But I definitely want all those rings for myself!

As for this one, I would definitely wear this out and about. It's got a sort of stylish vagabond feel to it, I think. My friend actually has this necklace, and it really works! It's cute.

In other news, I've recently come to the realization that I OWN NO FLORAL SKIRTS. What? I don't know why, but I was living in some sort of delusion that I owned way too many floral skirts and thus could never buy any more. I kept coming across them at the store and thinking "Oh I want this! But I don't need another one of these." Now that I've realized I own zero, I'll definitely be picking up some of the nice floral fabrics I saw at the store last time I was there. I'm looking forward to actually having so many floral skirts that I can think that again.

Choose Your Own Adventure

Messing around with Paint Shop Pro a bit, browsing the Urban Outfitters website. Lots of things I can't afford. Choose your own adventure- black and white hot summer day on the town, or blue and beige hot summer day in the country. Or something. I love love love that bag on the right. I want it so badly. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for to use as my bookbag this year. Been looking for something similar to that with a much cheaper price tag for awhile now... keep your eyes peeled for me?

Four Horsemen

I often take inspiration from men's fashion - and there are definitely a few pieces in my closet from the men's section. Why is it that they always have the best clothes?
Here are a couple items from the Four Horsemen shop that I wouldn't mind adding to my wardrobe. (The above image is from their gallery as well.) Of course, they don't carry the shoes in a size small enough to fit my girl feet (a men's 6 is a little big on me) but I can always wish.

Wishful Thinking

A wishlist from Ruche - sorry my handwriting is a mess today! I'm a big fan of that buttondown tunic and those polka dotted shorts, but for now, I can only look. Such are the woes of the unemployed.

I Don't Like Mondays

A couple things from I DONT LIKE MONDAYS that I wouldn't mind adding to my closet. I am in love with those cable knit shorts. I would wear those all the time! Unfortunately, they are $153, which is definitely not the kind of money I have to throw around. So for now, I must be content just to dream.

Dressy in dresses

I put together a little collection of the new Urban Outfitters dresses that I like. The blue one on the top reminds me of the dress I wore to prom. (It comes in black too, which is even more like it!) I think my favorites are the top-left and bottom-middle ones, but I love the back of that red one. Which are your favorites?

Simple in spring

Here's a couple items from the Topshop website that I definitely would not mind having in my wardrobe right about now. Especially the boots and parka! I think these things are fitting to my mood and the current weather here.

Wishlist / Apologies

A wishlist of things I'd buy from Modcloth, if I could afford them.

Again, I'm terribly sorry for the total lack of posting. I do still have lots of outfit photos, and I will post them, but things are hectic! Prom is tomorrow. Perhaps you'll see photos of my dress. But yes, I really am sorry that I'm totally failing at updating my blog. I'll try to do better!

Online Shopping

Procrastinating as usual, I decided to peruse the Forever 21 website and found these lovely items. I'm thinking about adding a lace detailed top to my DIY list, which is getting pretty long! And I don't know what I think about crop tops. I like them for late spring/summer, I think. I don't know, it gives me extra motivation to work on my abs at least!

I'm absolutely in love with that raincoat, but I'm not sure if it will work with most of my wardrobe, since I own a lot of black. What do you think?

Springtime shoes.

I want these. I want these so much. The kindofnew Kimchi Blue Swiss Dot Oxfords at Urban Outfitters. Every time I see them I want them more. I'll buy them next time I'm out there, if they have them, or I'll order them online if they aren't there probably. They're almost forty bucks, but I haven't been shopping in awhile and that's really not that much. And they're cotton. cotton and rubber. That is a huge huge plus. See, I'm not a big fan of leather. (Anything leather I have is secondhand.) I have nothing important to say except I WANT THESE SHOES.

"Malade" doesn't sound as bad as "sick"

So I am sick. Sicksicksick. It stinks. ("Don't say 'stinks' darling- say 'smells' if you absolutely must." I was watching A Philadelphia Story yesterday.) Anyways, here's what's been happening lately, cold weather stuff.

I know this whole collection has been everywhere already and I'm way behind the times on posting this here, but I really liked this one. (Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2010)
I love these tights. I don't have any like this. (Plus, white shirt + black cardigan + skirt + patterned tights = what I wear all the time.)

I would love a bag like this.
