Trying not to show it

Vintage dress, vintage belt, heels that I've had for years, gifted necklace, vintage ring

I didn't realize that this outfit was basically all vintage until just now! I wore this to school for Fancy Friday awhile ago with my studded flats, then I just threw on the heels for a movie date that night. As you can see, I tried blowdrying my hair straight... I like it curled better, but whatever. Anyways, the mirror necklace is gorgeous, right? It was a gift from one of my best friends; she has very nice taste.

Rainy Day Cheer

Kimchi Blue dress, Ann Taylor Loft cardigan, Kimchi Blue metallic oxfords, Hue socks, gifted necklace
Firstly, I'd like to talk about how excited I am that it was rainy and I could wear socks and a sweater! It's fantastic. I'm so happy about that! The shoes weren't the best choice, because as I have mentioned before, they're falling apart. It wasn't too bad though.
Secondly, I'll apologize for the blurry pictures, but it's been raining all day. This time it's not because of my crappy camera, but because apparently cameras don't focus properly in the rain.
On another note, more related to the first, let's talk about this dress. It's been sitting in the back of my closet for a few years now. I really love it, but unfortunately, it doesn't really fit me. I re-discovered it yesterday though, and tried it on, and found that if I wore a sweater with it, it worked. You lose a bit of the assymetrical front detailing on the dress, but the overall effect is good. My mother suggested that I turn it into a skirt, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to cut up such a nice dress. Plus all the cool top part would be gone... Maybe someday I'll think of a way to do that and keep all the details, but until then I think I'll just keep as is.

Waiting

Polka dotted sock and speckled sock both Hue
I'm still waiting for the cold weather so I can wear socks and tights and sweaters all the time. It rained on Sunday and Monday, so I did get to wear a sweater at least, but the photos from that are actually on film. Eventually that'll be developed. Here's another picture of some of my socks to hold you over. I'm not dancing this time, but these ones are gray. Mmm!
It's supposed to rain some more this week, too. I love rain! It's pretty and relaxing and I can wear socks and sweaters. Can you tell how badly I want to wear socks and sweaters yet?

New Sock Dance

Showing off some of the new socks I bought recently, in animated dance form. The left is a thin black knit type and the right is a thin maroon tight-style - both are from Hue. ...This is what happens when I re-discover my new socks whilst putting away the laundry! I've got some other socks too, which I'm sure you'll see soon enough.
Today it was rainy and I was planning to go see a movie with Avery, but we were too late, so we finished off a roll of film and got some hot chocolate instead. Now I'm off to convince my mother we should hit up my favorite mexcian place for dinner.

Nouveau

Thrifted top, H&M skirt, my father's class ring as a necklace, Cooperative Trompe L'Oeil Bag, Urban Outfitters studded flats
After I took the pictures, I decided to change shoes, so I really wore my Kimchi Blue lace up boots. They made it ten times cuter.

Drowsy Days

Harper's Bazaar UK October 2010 via Studded Hearts
Today I'm looking forward to big comfy, chunky sweaters and knits like these, hoping it will cool down and rain here finally. I'm in love with this editorial. I'd like to just have a lazy Saturday and watch some LOST, but I'm spending the first part of my day with college applications and cleaning. I'm ready to fast forward to second semester right about now, when everything is slowing down and I'm already accepted to school.

A Vacant Town

Thrifted button up top, Kimchi Blue lace skirt, Kimchi Blue lace up boots, my dad's socks, gifted vintage spoon ring
Even though I go through slumps just like everyone else, I'm really loving all the pieces in my wardrobe now. I feel like it's becoming more adhesive and everything fits me well (physically and emotionally). Take these boots, for example. I really love these guys. The idea of boots, especially laceups, is more rugged and adventurous, and I definitely could do some major adventuring in them. But they're a solid black, and super light weight, so they're easy to wear and seem pretty classic. Basically, they've got the feminine/vintage/edgy mix down.
It's just really nice to have a closet full of things that work together rather than random or unreasonably eclectic items. You know what I mean?

Cat Person

Cat print skirt made by me, Forever 21 shirt, vintage belt, Kimchi Blue boots, Hue gray socks, vintage watch, pictures thanks to Avery

I waited very patiently for the first day of fall to wear this skirt. I don't really know why, but I did. It seems fall-y to me. Anyways, I absolutely love it. "Are those cats on your skirt?" "YES." I'm so proud. I think this is probably one of the best skirts I've made quality-wise as well. I just want to wear it all the time forever. It's my favorite, I think.
I was debating my shoe choice this morning, but I'm glad I settled on these lace ups. They were just right. I also went with dark gray socks that match the gray cats on the skirt. However, I couldn't find the belt I originally had in mind. It's missing! It'll turn up eventually, I suppose. For now, I'm off to cuddle with my cat...

Somewhere down the road someday

Bob Dylan t-shirt from the concert last summer, H&M dress as skirt, vintage belt, vintage granny boots, navy socks
Let's just take a minute to appreciate my amazing t-shirt tucking skills. This is no skirt, it's a dress, which means I folded up my men's large Bob Dylan shirt and tucked it inside of itself and into this belt. I've gotta earn some points for that because it was impressive. (I thought so at least.) My calculus teacher told me I looked really cute, too. As for me, I was pretty pleased with this outfit. I liked it when I was wearing it yesterday, and I still like it now. Even though it doesn't have any black in it, I like it! That's saying something right there. I'd go on, but I've got some Music Theory to do. I'll leave you with a group shot of the girls who took pictures with me yesterday.

Un coup du vent, une petite brise

Skirt made by me, Silence + Noise slip, Wal-mart top, vintage belt, MIA Girl boots
I wore my new heels yesterday! They are amazing! Super cute and quite comfortable actually. I can't wait to wear them all fall and winter. Ignore the bug bite, it happens. I couldn't wait until it was officially fall to wear them, so I paired them with this sheer floral skirt for a nice transitional look. You can see in the second to last picture how sheer it is, but don't worry, there's a slip on underneath.
Right now, I'm obsessed with Castledoor, purples and bare legs. I'll let you know what I'm digging next week!

Chalked

Met up with Avery on Saturday night for a rooftop photoshoot, which quickly ran out of light.

Nollie v-neck, J.Crew skirt, vintage belt, Kimchi Blue metallic oxfords, alligator ring from a boutique in Muscle Shoals, gifted thumb ring from Cairo

After our photoshoot, we went down to see all the chalk drawings - there was some sort of chalk event downtown this weekend. There was a film festival too, but we only made a quick stop there, even though going to that was our original intention.

We ran into some friends, and one of them had this little guy, a baby flying squirrel named Captain Chaos. Absolutely adorable!
