Mood

(Lina Scheynius, Tristan Legros, Clara Ledwith, Kydeeva)
While I've been stuck putting together "inspiration" posts, I've realized something about them. I have my tumblr, and most of these images end up there at some point, but it's different with real blog posts. I'm arranging these images together, picking which ones to include or leave out, and what order to place them in. For me, the goal is to depict an overall mood or state of mind.

I work very hard to create these inspiration posts, even modifying color pictures to be black and white (this is the case for one of the shots above) to achieve the desired effect. In the end, I am often more inspired by the "feel" of something than the actual thing itself, especially when it comes to fashion. While many times I want to steal a look right off the model's back, I often decide that what I really want is a look with the same essence. I'm not sure if what I'm saying is making any sense, but basically, it is your mood that creates the outfits and stylings (although of course these have an influence on your mood).

If the goal of getting dressed is to present yourself to the world, which I believe it is, then you can never go wrong. Whether you are wearing seven inch heels and the latest designer trends or sweatpants and flip flops from the dollar store, you are showing the world who you are. Of course, you may not be giving the impression that you want to give, but let's face it, you can tell a lot from the way someone dresses. As long as you are dressing yourself, you are showing the essence of you at that moment. Whether it is defined completely or confused or lazy, that is part of your essence.

Well, now that I'm wondering if I'm being too cheesey or even making sense at all, I think I'll head off to bed. Or at least to write this english paper.

Waiting

Polka dotted sock and speckled sock both Hue
I'm still waiting for the cold weather so I can wear socks and tights and sweaters all the time. It rained on Sunday and Monday, so I did get to wear a sweater at least, but the photos from that are actually on film. Eventually that'll be developed. Here's another picture of some of my socks to hold you over. I'm not dancing this time, but these ones are gray. Mmm!
It's supposed to rain some more this week, too. I love rain! It's pretty and relaxing and I can wear socks and sweaters. Can you tell how badly I want to wear socks and sweaters yet?

New Sock Dance

Showing off some of the new socks I bought recently, in animated dance form. The left is a thin black knit type and the right is a thin maroon tight-style - both are from Hue. ...This is what happens when I re-discover my new socks whilst putting away the laundry! I've got some other socks too, which I'm sure you'll see soon enough.
Today it was rainy and I was planning to go see a movie with Avery, but we were too late, so we finished off a roll of film and got some hot chocolate instead. Now I'm off to convince my mother we should hit up my favorite mexcian place for dinner.

Chalked

Met up with Avery on Saturday night for a rooftop photoshoot, which quickly ran out of light.

Nollie v-neck, J.Crew skirt, vintage belt, Kimchi Blue metallic oxfords, alligator ring from a boutique in Muscle Shoals, gifted thumb ring from Cairo

After our photoshoot, we went down to see all the chalk drawings - there was some sort of chalk event downtown this weekend. There was a film festival too, but we only made a quick stop there, even though going to that was our original intention.

We ran into some friends, and one of them had this little guy, a baby flying squirrel named Captain Chaos. Absolutely adorable!

Schoolstyle

Cheyenne

Speaking of pinks and grays, this is my friend Cheyenne! She shot some pictures of me the other day (soon to be updated) and I thought she looked super cute, so I snapped one of her too! The top is a really nice light pink color, and I thought the gray Toms pulled the softness together and made it very school-casual.

Photos from my week

One of my best friends got me this ring while she was in Cairo - it's fantastic, don't you think?

I told you it was hot hot hot here! This week was actually cooler than the rest of summer has been. (Notice the fireworks for the 4th of July, they always do that stuff for holidays)

Breakfast! Oatmeal with blueberries and raspberries - yum!

The view from my bedroom window. Everything is dry, we could use some rain. (The "scattered storms" that the 7-day forecast predicted earlier never hit us.)

My dad made some 4th of July desserts! I had one today, though, since I was out with my friend yesterday.

Animation!

Avery and I like to make GIFs sometimes.
I've lost a lot of them though. They're floating around on tumblr somewhere.

Springtime

I just wanted to share these photos of Avery with you guys. I really like them. They're from the beginning of spring when it had just gotten warm. I just think they're really pretty. Too bad she did this shoot without me!
